METTERY at Hong Kong Lighting Fair 2026 — Autumn Edition

27–30 October 2026 — METTERY is showing its outdoor range at the 28th Hong Kong International Lighting Fair. In a tight grey booth we rebuilt a strip of night garden: mushroom spike lights growing out of leaf litter, six wall lights lit on one plane, bollards and a ring floor lamp throwing light into the turf.

About the 28th Hong Kong Lighting Fair

Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the Autumn Edition runs 27–30 October 2026 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai — the 28th edition, themed Beyond Illumination. It runs alongside the 11th Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo (26–29 October, AsiaWorld-Expo); together the two fairs host about 3,000 exhibitors from 20 countries and regions and form the world’s largest lighting marketplace. The Lighting Fair is zoned by application across ten-plus areas — Hall of Connected Lighting, Hall of Fame, commercial, residential, LED and green lighting, outdoor and public lighting, testing and certification — putting light sources, luminaires and controls on the same floor. Last year’s 27th edition, together with Eco Expo Asia, drew about 62,000 buyers from 141 countries and regions; the Outdoor and Tech Light Expo alone reported 359 exhibitors, 10,374 physical buyers from 117 countries and regions, plus 268,997 online buyer visits.

Why October in Hong Kong matters

Three lighting shows split the year between them: GILE in Guangzhou in June is the export window, Guzhen in October is the domestic and supply-chain hub, and Hong Kong at the end of October is the last stop of the year — with the most mixed buyer base of the three. Importers, chain retailers, contractors, design practices and e-commerce buyers all walk the same halls, and the share of European, Southeast Asian and Latin American buyers runs noticeably higher than at mainland shows. The HKTDC splits the two fairs into indoor and outdoor: the Wan Chai Lighting Fair covers residential, commercial, decorative and connected lighting, while the AsiaWorld-Expo show concentrates on smart poles, landscape and architectural lighting, and outdoor/industrial/technical lighting — with PV and energy storage added this year. For a factory that has spent 22 years on outdoor lighting, that split fits: most of our buyers are not shopping for a single fixture, they are fitting out a whole garden, a stretch of pathway or a building facade.

Three things on the booth

First, the night garden: artificial turf covered with dried leaves, moss and ferns, and mushroom-shaped spike lights growing out of the litter, their domed heads keeping the light low so it only grazes the ground cover. Lights like these are not sold on brightness — they are sold on whether they look natural. Second, the wall-light wall: six models mounted on one plane and lit together — up-and-down, single-direction fan, square beam, ring form — so that from two metres away a buyer can see how far the wall-wash opening angles differ and whether the light above and below is symmetrical. Third, bollards and ingrounds: three bollard heights lit on the turf side by side, square and round bodies in a row, and IP67 ingrounds set flush into the walkway and rated for foot traffic. Every exhibit shares one specification baseline: IP65/IP67, ADC12 die-cast aluminium bodies, outdoor-grade powder coating or PVD, 3SDCM colour consistency within a batch at 3000K/4000K, and CRI ≥ 80 (CRI ≥ 90 on key models).

What buyers asked most

Questions in Hong Kong are blunter than at mainland shows, and they land in four places. Certifications and paperwork: beyond CE and RoHS, ERP and energy labels for Europe, SAA and RCM for Australia, UL/ETL for North America, SASO for the Middle East. Salt spray and humidity: how many years the coating survives on a coastal project, and whether fasteners are 304 or 316 stainless. Colour consistency: whether 3000K and 4000K mixed on one project will show a visible shift. And small runs: whether 300–500 pieces can be finished in a custom colour, and whether OEM labelling is possible. We answered with integrating-sphere reports, salt-spray records, certificate lists and aging footage — several buyers moved straight into sampling and quotation. Every exhibit remains with us at the factory, so samples or a video factory tour can be arranged at any time.
